The April minutes were approved.

There was a request from a special ed. classroom for $200 to be used to purchase organization materials.Many questions were raised and this request was tabled until next months meeting so those questions can be answered. Brenda will present ideas to the teacher and come back to us if not resolved.

PTC voted to approve $3323.00 to pay for new blue slide, hardware, and an additional sandbox.

We will price picnic tables and bring that information to the next meeting.

School Store has a deposit totaling $807.50.

The last day for the store will be in two weeks with the exception of the Donuts with Dad mornings.

There was also a request that the school store be opened during the August open house.

Fifth Grade Recognition Night – Wednesday June 16, 2010

Fifth graders are working on a t-shirt design.

Christine DesVergnes is in charge of the organization of this event.

Please contact her if you are willing to help.

Mrs. Masalsky is heading up the Spell-A-Thon again this year. Unfortunately she is out with a broken ankle. Mrs. Secunde will contact her to see what if any help she might need.

Field Day: PTC voted to approve the purchase of Ice Pops for this event.

Genevieve Fundraiser: Brenda Wedgewood has agreed to head up this fundraiser. She will need many volunteers to help her in the fall.

We will also research new ideas for fundraisers that might replace Genevieve.

A request was made for the PTC to continue to support The Spirit Committee T-Shirts for students. It was decided that we will discuss this again in September when we know the numbers of new Kindergarteners.

Next fall there will be a new PTC website up and running. There will also be a PTC newsletter that will help inform parents of upcoming PTC events and needs.There will be a PTC recruitment table at open house and other events.

PTC approved the purchase of pens from RSD graphics that will have the Line School PTC website on them to help get parents to view the website.

PTC approved $75.00 to help the recruitment fund.

District wide PTC meeting will be held at MHS on May 20^th. Free childcare will be available. This is a very important meeting to get the word out about our budget and get questions answered.

Next Meeting 5/12/10

March meeting minutes were approved.

School Store report: The recycled Capri Sun pencil cases and pouches have been selling. We will make about 25% profit on these. Many pouches are being sent in and recycled in the cafeteria. Mr. Dudley will send off the used pouches to be recycled this summer. We will receive a check for these pouches.

Treasurers report: Balance on checking $23,618.00.

Our CD with $2349.26 will roll over on 4/23/10.

Profit from the book fair is $1512.62. We will be spending more out of our account toward the end of the year as we pay for field trips. We are still looking at replacing the blue slide with another slide or another piece of equipment in its place. We are also awaiting prices on a picnic table and new sand box.

The book fair was a great success. Some mention has been made to changing the location for next year.

Mrs Wescott had some ideas for the playground.

Extra basketball hoop in the 4 square area

Cones to make goals for soccer and other games

Rubber bases for playing games like kickball

Pinnies for marking teams

Samantha Waters attended a PR meeting with the other PTC presidents in our school district. The other PTC’s are asking their groups to donate $50 toward a newspaper

advertisement that will get the word out about an important information night. This meeting will be to let voters know what is going on with the district and the towns before they vote on the school budget. This meeting is not meant to sway voters but to inform them before voting. This meeting will be open to all and questions will be taken and answered by our superintendent. There will be babysitting and a movie and snacks for children.

The PTC voted to give the $50.00 and donate our share of snacks for this meeting. The date and time will be announced.

It is important that we are informed and that we vote.

Please vote on our districts’ vision statement on the blog.

Amy Bailey, Nicole Partridge and Crystal Bastarache will be heading up teacher appreciation week. Please see them if you would like to help.

Mrs. Masalski will be heading up the spell-a-thon. Please see her if you can help her with some last minute copying. This event will happen right after April vacation.

Fifth grade recognition tentatively scheduled for Wednesday June 16^th, 2010. PTC purchases a gift for the class, usually a t-shirt for every student. PTC also provides refreshments and sets up the area. Christine DesVergnes has agreed to help out with this and is seeking volunteers to help with this event.

Mrs. DesVergnes also typed up an inventory list for the PTC closet.

A list of PTC ideas for possible sub-committees was handed out.

Next month we will be electing new officers for the 2010-2011 school year.

PTC Meeting Minutes March 10, 2010

A motion was made to approve last months meeting minutes and they were approved.

Brenda Wedgewood gave the treasurer's report:

$21,286.49 in checking

$2115.04 in Frances Tuft CD

Brenda will be in touch with the Book fair chair chairperson to let her know of our new policy not to hold checks for longer than 10 days.

The book fair will be April 5^th – April 9^th during the day and the evening of April 7^th in conjunction with International night at school.

Volunteers are needed day hours of 10-12 and 2-5 and on the evening of April 7^th.

Congratulations to Mr. Anderson's 5^th grade class for winning the Box Tops contest!

Christine DesVergnes brought the first group of ink cartridges to Staples for recycling. Many ideas were given as to how to divvy up the money that is raised. One idea was to put the money back into the school store to show a higher profit there.

Mrs. Antrim will be going shopping for playground equipment to put in the new playground box. Some ideas for what she should purchase with the allotted money were: sandbox toys, kickballs, basketballs, soccer balls and a pump to keep the balls in good shape

The blue slide on the playground needs to be replaced. The gametime company estimates it will cost $2000 to replace the slide. Mrs. Durgin will get other prices on the slide, and the cost of another sand table. She will see if it is possible to get a partition to block off the blue slide for now.

Muffins with mom will be May 6^th for grades K-2 and May 7^th for grades 3-5 It runs from 7:45 – 8:30 AM in the school cafeteria.

Donuts with Dad will be June 10^th for grades K-2 and June 11^th for grades 3-5. It runs from 7:45 – 8:30 AM in the school cafeteria.

A motion was made to give prizes at these activities – 3 gift cards to Hannaford will be raffled at Muffins for mom and 3 gas cards will be raffled at donuts with dad.

Samantha Waters would like someone to volunteer to help her with these activities so they know how to do it for next year.

A motion was made to allow $200 of PTC money for heavy duty laminating materials for items that need to be laminated on the heavy duty laminator.

Melissa Antrim gave details on the upcoming fifth grade field trip to the Museum of Science in Boston. The total cost will be $1262.00. The PTC voted to pay for this trip at a prior meeting.

Fifth grade recognition night will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

Mrs. Antrim attended a meeting with local and state government officials on Tuesday evening. Our elected officials need to hear from their constituents. Senator Alfond and Representative Southerland need resident/parent and staff input. Please be an informed voter and find out more about LD551 a bill that could give our district more funding.

Wednesday March 24th at 5 PM is the next district budget meeting. Anyone can attend. They will be discussing next years budget cuts.Please visit the RSU 57 website HERE for more information.

PTC Meeting Minutes Feb 10, 2010

Minutes from January’s meeting were approved

Treasurer’s Report:

We have $22,432.86 in Checking

On Feb 28^th one savings CD will roll over.

Motion was made and passed to take $300 out before rolling it over to pay back costs.

There have been some theft issues at the school store.

Therefore new procedures have been put in place for making purchases i.e. single file line.

Capri Sun recycling is going well. Chris Dudley showed examples of pencil cases that are made from the recycled pouches. We receive $.02 for each pouch we send in.

Kris Wescott sent an all school email to remind teachers about the recycling program.

The ink cartridge recycling bin has been placed in the computer lab.

We will wait until spring to fill the toy box on the playground with equipment.

Mrs. Eaton is looking for help with box tops counting.

Mrs. DesVergnes and Mrs. MacKenzie volunteered to help.

Thank you to Mrs. DesVergnes who took inventory and organized the PTC closet.

International night was agreed upon.

The book fair and international night will happen at the same time.

This worked well last year.

PTC voted down a spring fling dance this year.

Mr. Dudley said he would take a look at the blue slide on the playground to see if it can be fixed.

Mrs. Seely asked if the playground is ever inspected for safety by an outside organization.

There is an opening on the School Board for a Limerick resident.

Anyone interested should contact the school board for paperwork.

Our president, Samantha Waters, has decided this will be her last year as president.

She is making it known so that people can be thinking about whether they would like to take on such a position. She has done a wonderful job and would be a great person to shadow in the coming months!

Our next meeting will be March 10, 2010 at 3:30 PM in the Line School Library.

A special thank you was said to Brenda Wedgewood for her hard work and dedication to the tag sale!

October meeting minutes were accepted.

Brenda Wedgwood delivered the treasurer's report.

From May 2009 to December 2009 the PTC lost $229.00 in returned checks and paid out $187.50 in fees relating to those checks.

Brenda changed the type of bank account we have to lessen use fees but she wanted to know what if anything we can do about returned checks.

The PTC discussed this issue at length. Some ideas that were discussed are as follows:

PTC members discussed not holding on to personal checks for more than 10 days.

It was suggested that we look into making this PTC policy and place it in the bylaws.

All fundraising chairpeople should be made aware of this policy and get checks to Brenda within 10 days of receiving them. This was not voted on.

Could we write a notice to a person that had a check returned that they will be charged for the returned check fee?

Can we put a “cash is preferred” statement on fundraising materials? Another statement “Due to economic changes the PTC would prefer cash in lieu of checks.

In the end we decided that Brenda would speak to individual fundraising chairpeople about getting checks cashed within 10 days.

School Store Update:

Chris Dudley has started taking applications to work at the school store and is making a student schedule for workers.

The School store made a $293 deposit

Would like to start recycling Capri Sun pouches. There is a company you can send them to that will pay for them and recycle them into school supplies like pencil bags.

Can we make a Capri sun deposit box for the cafeteria?

Kris Wescott motioned that we provide laminate for the school. The motion was seconded and the PTC will purchase the same amount of laminate that was purchased last year (at least 4 rolls).

Kris Wescott would like to take over Square 1 Art if the reason it is not being done is because there is no on interested in chairing it. Motion was made and seconded. Mrs. Wescott will chair this for 2010.

Chirstine DesVergnes discussed how Staples will give $3.00 in store credit per empty ink cartridge (up to 10 cartridges a month) returned. She is willing to take care of picking up the cartridges from the school and dropping them at Staples. This will go into an account for Line PTC at Staples to get credit for teachers.

Reminder that School Board meetings are every other Wednesday at 7PM and everyone is welcome. There are many changes going on in our schools due to budget cuts. Parent and community support is appreciated!

The question of cleaning up the PTC closet was raised. Can we have a running inventory? Brenda said she would look into it.

Polar Express as a great success. Thank you to all who put it on!

Line School PTC Meeting Minutes Oct. 14, 2009

The meeting started with a motion and vote accepting the minutes from last months meeting.

The Genevieve orders have been collected and will come in after the tag sale is over.
There was over $8000.00 in sales and PTC will get approximately $4000.00 in profit.

The playground equipment box is in.
Chris Dudley has locks and has measured an area to bolt it down.
The box should be in place by next week.
After it is in place equipment will be purchased to fill it.

There was a treasurer's report was presented by Brenda Wedgewood.

The next order of business was to review the PTC events for the rest of the year.

Deadline for Box Tops is October 15th.
Another deadline will be set for the end of the school year.

There is also a Boxtops marketplace website where you can earn money for our school by shopping on-line shopping.
There is a link to the marketplace on the PTC blog.

Hannaford extra receipts can be placed in the slot under Line School or turned in at school.

The tag sale is Saturday, November 7, 2009.
Volunteers will be needed.
Forms will go out this week for donations and volunteers.

The school needs a new large coffee maker.
There was a vote approving the purchase another one.
Kris Wescott said she would check with her brother-in-law who may be able to get us a deal.

Last years International night timing was bad but a success.
At the next staff meeting Amy Samson will ask the teachers when they would prefer to have International night.

There was a motion and vote approving to do away with Square One art this year.

There was a motion and vote in favor of having the Polar Express evening this December.

Christine Iannazzo agreed to head the committee for this event.
Crystal Bastarache also agreed to be on the committee.

The date has not been solidified but we do know that the Limerick parade is December 5.
Amy Bailey knows of a Santa and Mrs. Claus if we need them.

The Spell-a-thon will go on as usual this year.

A motion and vote was made in favor of going forth with the remaining PTC events for the year: Staff Appreciation Week, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, and Field Day.

Next meeting time has been changed to November 4, 2009 @ 3:30.

A motion was voted on and accepted for the PTC to purchase the snacks used at the monthly meetings.

Amy Samson represented the Spirit Committee and presented the idea of ordering T-shirts for all the students in the school.
There was a motion that was approved to move forward with PTC purchasing the shirts.
A notice went home at the beginning of the year that each month there will be a pep-rally and students of every grade level wear a shirt that is the color designated for their grade level.

The PTC agreed to accept donations for the grade level shirts but to assure that all students get one payment will not be mandatory.
Amy Samson will write something up to go home to students and we will discuss this at the next meeting.
The shirts will cost approximately $5.75 each.
Parents and Line staff will have the option to purchase t-shirts as well.
Adult shirt price to be determined.

The school store will be open Tuesday's and Thursday's starting September 22nd! If your child plans to purchase supplies, please send a minimal amount of money as the items for sale are inexpensive.

We have exciting news on the outcome of Wednesday's meeting! The PTC is purchasing a storage box full of new items for the playground! There will be new footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, kick balls, jump ropes and sleds ~ COMING SOON!

Hope you are saving your Boxtops! It is a great way to earn cash for the school, without buying anything more than what's already on your list! Last year Line School PTC earned $809.77 from this program! The deadline is October 15th! The class that collects the most will WIN A SPECIAL PRIZE!!

What is The PTC Anyway?

Thanks so much for getting the blog started Chris!

This will be a great place to share information and get feedback from Line School teachers and families!

I would like to take a minute to explain a few things about who we are and what we do.

We are a group of Line School parents, teachers and community members who work together to enhance the Line School experience!

We do so by hosting different free and low cost activities throughout the year to provide materials and resources to the students and teachers.

Line PTC funds things such as library books, playground equipment, all school field trips and more!

We meet the second Wednesday of every month in the library @ 3:30 to discuss current needs, ideas and events.

We try to keep the meetings to an hour and have been successful at it so far!

The PTC provides babysitters for the children across the hall in the art room during each meeting.

There are snacks, fun and games for the kids as well as a monthly drawing for those who attend!

Our first meeting of the year will be September 9, 2009 @ 3:30 ~ Hope to see you there!

Watch for our volunteer sign up sheet sometime in September!

I just wanted to welcome everyone to the NEW Line School PTC Blog! Sorry if it was a pain to get to with all the creating a Google account and all, but as far as I know, it was the only way to do it so people could post. Hopefully this will be used by the Line Elementary School community to keep up with what is going on!
